“What a brilliant day that was!! It was great to have ‘real people’ deliver very practical pointers to the maze of web things, social network sites and I am a convert. The workshop was a revelation and delivered appropriate accessibility to the most effective way to make the web work for me” - Previous participant, Ruth Facey, the Travelling Jeweller, Hampshire

“I attended Sinead’s Digital Toolbox seminar in November and found it to be full of useful, practical tips, as well as inspiring. I’ve been to other digital workshops, but Sinead’s are the best of the bunch. Highly recommended” - Previous participant, Richard Brownsdon, ClearlySo, London

“An interesting, enlightening overview of some of the key digital tools to sell and promote yourself digitally as well as how to best manage yourself and your time virtually. Would highly recommend this presentation for all 21st century workers!” - Rob Khan, BBC Radio 1 and freelance producer, London

Date: Thursday 14 July 2011
Time: 1pm-4.30pm
Venue: University of Portsmouth Library (PO1 2ST)
Tickets: £20

Broadband, 3G networks and social media are changing the way we work and the way we communicate.

But these digital technologies result in a daily digital deluge leaving less time to get things done and less time to focus on the bigger picture, in business and in life.

Upgrade Yourself! is a practical workshop filled with simple and actionable strategies, tools and techniques that will help you move from a stressful, reactionary workday towards being proactive, focused and relaxed.

This is not about simply getting things done or emptying you inbox - and it’s not about cramming 50% more work into your day. It’s a practical introduction to how to focus on getting the right work done; getting it done in the minimum time needed, and regain balance between your creative work and a creative life.

What you will take away from the workshop:

  • Tried and tested strategies for creating focus and flow in your working day and for coping with information and email overload
  • An understanding of how to reduce or eliminate unnecessary work
  • Knowledge of which digital tools to use to streamline our workflow
  • An insight into appropriate mind/body practices to support being more mindful at work and reduce work-based stress
  • An examination of the relationship between our ‘digital’ and offline lives and how to maintain a sense of balance

“Really very good indeed. You’ve given a tremendous amount of information. Nice balance with the little physical exercises. It’s been well worth coming to. Thank you!”- Previous participant, Jennifer Waller, writer, communications and CSR/ sustainability professional, Amsterdam

“I recently attended Sinead’s workshop, part of the Arts Council’s Cultural Leadership Programme. She managed to introduce us to a plethora of simple tools and techniques with immediate applicability. But what is more, she quickly targeted the audience and communicated clearly in language we could all understand -  a rare and valuable skill amongst the technology cognoscenti!” - Previous participant, Deborah Dunham, Organisational Consultant, UK
